First aid courses and first aid certificate

First aid courses and a valid first aid certificate are mandatory requirements for obtaining a driver's licence. Training for prospective drivers is provided with the aim to acquaint them with the basic principles of first aid, effective action in the event of an accident, as well as to develop practical skills in first aid. A valid first aid certificate is required not only for licence Category B, but also for categories A, BE, C, CE, D. The first aid certificate is valid for 5 years. If the driver wants to embark on a training for new additional driver's licence category and the first aid certificate has expired, the first aid course must be taken again.

The first aid courses consist of a theoretical and practical part of the training with a total duration of 15 academic hours (a 12-hour training course with a 3-hour knowledge test). After successful completion of the first aid course, information about students is entered into the unified registry held by the Road Traffic Safety Directorate (CSDD). This means that it is not necessary to present your physical copy of the first aid certificate at a driving school – nor is it required at the Road Traffic Safety Directorate (CSDD) when receiving your driver's licence. The first aid certificate obtained at the driving school "Einšteins" is valid in all Member States of the European Union. Despite the registration of the first aid certificate in the CSDD registry, the document is still issued in "paper form" as it may also be useful in other situations not related to obtaining a driver's licence, such as obtaining a weapons permit or applying for the position of security guard.

First aid training online

Driving school "Einšteins" offers its students and other interested people the opportunity to take a theoretical course in first aid at a distance (remote learning). On the e-learning platform of the driving school "Einšteins", course participants can easily and simply listen to the theoretical part of the training, regardless of their location. However, in order to obtain a certificate, students must also complete the practical part of the training, during which they acquire skills in first aid. The practical part of the first aid course is implemented in the branches of the driving school "Einšteins" throughout the entire Latvia.

The organization of first aid courses at a distance greatly facilitates the organization of existing training. The current two-day training is replaced by one full-time and one part-time training lesson, which gives students more flexibility in the choice of their training schedule.
